UJEF’s Matching Grants Program

Café Sunflower & Bakery This exciting project provides job training for adults with special needs. These adults receive personalized training and on-the-job experience in customer service, management, marketing and more. This program empowers adults with special needs with the skills and confidence to become successful professionals. As an added bonus, the café brings joy to every customer who stops by for a coffee or cupcake. Café Sunflower & Bakery has a storefront right in Federation’s lobby.

Gateway to Israel: A Journey for Adults with Disabilities Last spring, the Edlavitch JCC of Washington, DC brought 11 adults with disabilities and their caregivers to Israel for an inclusive, life-changing journey through our homeland. Together, they explored Israel’s history, dynamic culture, vibrant art and natural beauty on this accessible adventure. With grant funding from Federation’s UJEF Matching Grants Program, the participants were able to experience the best of Israel at a highly subsidized cost.

If you have a new, entrepreneurial initiative for the betterment of our Jewish community locally or in Israel that you would like Federation’s UJEF to consider, please contact Linda Kraner at linda.kraner@shalomdc.org or 301-230-7242 to apply.
