Benjamin Rosenbaum
“[I enjoy giving to Federation because I know there are] opportunities to give back at all levels, at any age, and in a variety of areas.”
For Ben Rosenbaum, the values of volunteerism and philanthropy were instilled in him at an early age and followed him throughout his journey to Greater Washington from Florida.
Raised in the Florida Panhandle, Ben said, “There is an obligation in Judaism to give to those in need.” With this core Jewish value as his guide, Ben became active in leadership roles for Jewish organizations after college.
He was honored to lead Nice Jewish Boys, a social group bringing together gay, bisexual, and trans-identifying Jews in DC, Maryland, and Virginia for nearly a decade. Inspired by our region’s diversity, Ben also helps identify emergent leaders in our community to continue to fill the pipeline of Jewish leaders to ensure a vibrant Jewish community into the future.
When asked why he gives to Federation, he said it’s because “Federation has the ability to leverage the whole of our community to make a difference in a variety of causes and missions.”
His hope is that “with rising hate and the growing threat of antisemitism, that we do not turn inward, but continue to stand proud and visible as Jews here in the nation’s capital and around the world.”
