The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and Makom (formerly the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes) are excited to announce today that they will become joint owners of the Federation building and Makom will move into the building as part of an expanded partnership between the two organizations.
The move, expected to take place in October 2024, will transform the location into a central hub for Jewish organizations. The space will also create more accessible supports for community members with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“We are thrilled to welcome Makom to our now shared location, and to establish a central space from which we and other Jewish organizations can strengthen our communal impact and reach,” said Gil Preuss, CEO of The Jewish Federation. “This next step in our partnership with Makom ensures that both of our organizations are even better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our community.”
After moving into the building, Makom plans to establish a clinical services department on-site, expanding their reach to support people with disabilities from across the community.
