Spotlight on Sunrise Israel

Sunrise Israel, a grantee of Federation’s Israel Crisis Relief Fund, was founded in 2010 to bring joy and normalcy to children battling cancer and their families. At Sunrise, summer was about the limitless dreams of children who deserved to just be kids.

In October, after Hamas’ brutal attack, war erupted in Israel and Gaza. The families of Sunrise Israel faced new dangers as rockets destroyed neighborhoods. The small comfort they had was shattered, and the need for Sunrise’s support became more urgent than ever.

With the war halting events and fundraisers, the fear of a summer without camp loomed large. But because of your generosity, that day never came.

This summer, despite the ongoing conflict, Sunrise Israel-Be’er Sheva, Sunrise Israel-Beit Yehoshua, and Sunrise Israel-Kiryat Tivon opened their doors to over 350 children of all backgrounds.

Thanks to you, the sun will continue to rise for every Sunrise child and family in Israel.

“On behalf of our Sunrise Israel families, I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. At a time when it was hardest for these children to stand tall in the face of overwhelming obstacles, you gave them the ability to soar.” – Abi Blackman, Senior Director, Global Resource Development, Sunrise Israel
