Washington, D.C. Celebrates Israel's 60th on the National Mall

Tens of thousands of Washingtonians converged on the National Mall, Sunday, June 1, to joyously celebrate Israel's milestone 60th birthday. The celebration was sponsored by The Jewish Federation, Embassy of Israel and hundreds of producers, agencies and local organizations. Congratulations to Montgomery County resident Debra Levine who won a free trip to Israel at the Israel@ 60 raffle! Israel @ 60: A Capital Celebration Touched A Need in Our Community

On Sunday June 1, approximately 50,000 people congregated on the National Mall for the Israel @ 60 Independence Day celebration. In Northern Virginia and Montgomery County it rained. On the Mall, the sun continued to shine and even an occasional cloud did not darken the spirit or the energy of the thousands who gathered for a communal celebration of Israel and the vibrant connection of Jews and others to the still young state. more
